Questions

Questions families ask

What ages and hours do you have?

Dogwood is for children from age 3 until they start kindergarten, in a younger and an older group. Mornings run from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, and children come two, three or five days a week.

How does a tour work?

A tour is a walk around the farm with the group on a school morning, about an hour. Wear boots, and bring your child if you like.

What sets tuition?

The age group and the days a week. The director goes through the figures with you on a tour.

How is a place held, and how does the waitlist work?

When we have a place, we offer it by phone and email, and you hold it by returning the enrollment forms. If there is no place yet, you join the waitlist and we call families in order as places open.

Is Dogwood licensed, and what are the ratios?

Dogwood is a licensed child care center in North Carolina. Each age group has its own number of adults, shown beside the license.

What happens when a child is ill?

Please keep your child home with a fever or anything that could pass to the group. If a child becomes unwell at school, we call you and ask you to come.

What about photos of my child?

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

What should my child bring?

Boots, a water bottle and a packed lunch, with a spare set of clothes labeled with your child's name.

What about toilet learning?

Children who are still learning are welcome. Teachers help calmly and keep a spare set of clothes ready, and we talk with you about what works at home.

How do you handle a hard day?

We stay close, get down to the child's level and name what we see. A hard day can be a tired body, a surprise or a big feeling, and we talk it through with you at pickup.

Still have a question?

Call the director, or book a tour and ask in person.
